Here at Fayrelander, We endevour to produce the most healthy and well ajusted puppies possible, by ensuring that both parents are not only sound in body but also in temperament, which to us is paramount.
Not a large commercial breeder, we only produce one or two litters per year, mainly when looking to keep something for ourselves, to secure our lines and hopefully a new prospect for the show ring
Producing a happy and healthy dog as far as we are concerned starts before they are even concieved, Ensuring that Mum and Dad have the relevant health tests, and both are of good temperament,
Mum herself must have a good start, Therefore our girls don't have their first litter until we feel she is of an age to cope well with maternal duties, and when considering further litters she should be back to peak condition. To give her pups the best, even before they are born.
Once born the puppies must also be given the best start possible with good food, regular worming, and that all important early socialisation.
Ready to go to their new homes it is now down to you...
Be sure this is the right breed for you,Have you the time, Space and the finances to secure their Health and happiness in the future.
You will need to provide, Regular excercise, Good food, Clean fresh water, Shelter, and All routine and other Veterinary care needed. We strongly suggest you consider insurance, which will not only cover veterinary expences but also provide a third party liability cover.
Your Puppy will also need, Loads of stimulating safe toys, with consistant ground rules from day one. Love and affection should be given in abundance, but only when it's earnt, this will teach your pup that doing the right thing is a good thing.
Join in puppy socialising classes,as early as possible, where they can meet and greet other dogs and people in a controled place. and safely introduce them to as many different situations as you can.
Read as much information about the breed as is possible, and don't imagine that this cute little pup will stay that way for long, The German Shepherd grows in body at a very fast rate, but is still only a puppy in mind, and could very soon become harder to control if you don't put the work in early. (Please see our puppy pics of Puppies at just five months of age, Three months after they leave here)
If you are prepared to put these foundations in place you will be greatly rewarded, with a dog that is a joy to own, who will be a loyal and trusted lifelong addition to your family.
Considering all of the above you still feel that you are able to give a permanent loving home to one of this most fabulous breed..
You should do your homework,Go to see as many litters as you can, making sure you see Mum with pups, and the Father where possible, Ask about hip scores, and any other health checks. Ask questions, but be prepared to answer questions put to you. Most of all don't let your heart rule your head and if not completly happy, Walk away, The purchase of your puppy is a very important one, and one you may have to live with for many years to come.
All our Dogs are truly here for life, and as such we often have, Mum, Dad Granny, Grandad, Aunties and other siblings available to view.
